# Timestamps

Every date and time the Lazy Embedded API returns is a string in ISO 8601 format, in UTC:

```text
2026-10-02T09:14:03.512874+00:00
```

- The time zone is always written as the offset `+00:00`, never as `Z`.
- The seconds may have a fractional part of up to six digits. When the fraction is zero it is left
  out, as in `2026-10-02T09:14:03+00:00`.

Parse timestamps with your language's ISO 8601 parser rather than a fixed pattern, so both forms
work. In the API reference these fields have the type `string` with the format `date-time`.

Convert a timestamp to your user's time zone only for display. Store and compare it in UTC.
